Thanks for stopping by! I’m Jack Parker, and welcome to my travel blog – HostingFam
I’m a full-time traveler from the United States, and I’ve been on the road for nearly 6 years now. These days, you’ll usually find me exploring the quieter corners of the world—whether that’s hidden beaches in Southeast Asia or remote mountain villages in the Alps.
I’ve always been more of an introvert, and for years, I kept my travels to myself. I didn’t feel the need to share them online or seek attention. For me, travel was about personal growth, connecting with new cultures, and getting lost in the moment. I preferred keeping a journal of my experiences, rather than posting them to social media. But recently, I’ve realized how much sharing these journeys can help others—especially introverts or people who feel like they don’t fit into the typical travel world.
That’s why I’ve decided to step outside my comfort zone and create this blog. And through my platform, HostingFam, I want to do more than just share my own experiences—I want to build a community of like-minded travelers who can connect, share advice, and encourage each other to explore the world in their own way.
HostingFam is more than just a travel blog. It’s a space for solo travelers, introverts, and those seeking authentic connections on the road. Whether you’re someone who loves to travel solo, prefers quieter destinations, or just wants to meet others who share your passion, this community is for you.
My own journey began when I took a gap year after college. Instead of diving into the corporate world, I bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand and embarked on my first solo trip. I hiked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, explored the South Island, and spent months immersed in nature, away from the hustle of everyday life. Over the years, I traveled across Southeast Asia, Europe, and South America, constantly learning new things about myself and the world around me.
Though I’ve traveled solo for most of my life, I know how important it is to have a network of travelers you can connect with, share tips, or simply chat with about your experiences. That’s where HostingFam comes in. My goal is to create a supportive community that can help you find your way, no matter where you are on your journey. Through sharing travel stories, practical advice, and personal insights, I hope we can all grow together as a community of explorers.
Some of the highlights of my travels include:
• Trekking to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania,
• Camping in the Scottish Highlands and stargazing in the Isle of Skye,
• Exploring the ancient ruins of Petra in Jordan,
• Kayaking through the crystal-clear waters of Croatia’s coast,
• Riding a tuk-tuk through the chaotic streets of Bangkok,
• Diving with hammerhead sharks in the Galápagos Islands,
• Taking a road trip through the Australian outback and witnessing wild kangaroos,
• And having a sunset dinner in the Sahara Desert with Berber nomads.
I’ve traveled to 18 countries in the last year alone, sticking to a modest budget, and constantly seeking new challenges and adventures. While I’ve kept much of my journey private in the past, I’m excited to now create a space where others can feel encouraged to share their own stories, too.
If you’re someone who’s been hesitant about taking the leap into travel or if you’re looking for a community that supports and understands your approach to exploration, I hope HostingFam can be a place where you feel at home. I believe the world is full of incredible opportunities for those willing to step outside their comfort zones, and I’m here to help you on that path.
Thanks for joining me on this adventure—and I can’t wait to connect with you along the way!
